Editorial Policies
Journal of Educational Innovations and Practices (JEIP) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics. Our policies are guided by the Core Practices of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
1. Peer Review Policy
JEIP employs a rapid and rigorous Double-Blind Peer Review process. The identities of authors and reviewers are mutually anonymized.
A. Initial Assessment (Pre-Check)
- Timeline: Initial decision within 1 week (7 days).
- Checklist: Completeness and plagiarism check. Similarity index must be below 25%.
- Scientific Pre-Evaluation: Section Editor submits a report (min. 100 words). Editor-in-Chief decides on "Desk Reject" or review initiation.
B. Review Process & Timeline
- Reviewers: Minimum 2 independent reviewers.
- Invitation: 1 week (7 days) to accept. Up to 3 reminders sent before cancellation.
- Evaluation: 1 week (7 days) to complete review. Up to 3 automatic reminders sent before assignment cancellation.
C. Evaluation Criteria
- Report Quality: Reviewers must provide a narrative justification of at least 100 words. Simple checklists are not accepted.
- Tie-Breaker: A third reviewer may be appointed if reports are contradictory.
- Final Decision: Made by Editor-in-Chief based on Section Editor's recommendation.
D. Revision
- Timeline: Authors have 30 days for revisions. Failure leads to rejection.
- Requirement: A "Response to Reviewers" document is mandatory.
2. General Guidelines & Quotas
To ensure impartiality and prevent conflicts of interest:
- Submission Limit: Board members are limited to 1 manuscript per year.
- Reviewer Restriction: Reviewers cannot publish their own manuscript in the same issue they reviewed for.
- 25% Quota: Internal submissions (Board/Reviewers) cannot exceed 25% of any issue's total articles.
- Withdrawal: Requires formal letter signed by all co-authors.
- Appeals: "Reject" decisions can be appealed within 10 days with specific evidence.
3. Plagiarism Policy
- Screening: All submissions are screened using iThenticate, Turnitin, or equivalent.
- Threshold: Similarity index must be less than 25% (excluding bibliography). Higher rates lead to rejection.
4. Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy
JEIP enforces strict transparency regarding Generative AI tools.
- Non-Author Status: AI tools cannot be listed as authors.
- Declaration: Use of AI for writing/analysis must be disclosed in the "Declarations" section.
- For Reviewers: Uploading manuscripts to AI tools for report generation is strictly prohibited.
5. Research Ethics and Consent
- Ethics Approval: Mandatory for research involving human participants. Approval details (Committee, Date, Number) must be in the Methodology.
- Informed Consent: Must be obtained from all participants.
- SAGER Guidelines: Authors are encouraged to follow guidelines for reporting sex and gender.
6. Data Availability
All manuscripts must include a "Data Availability Statement" indicating where the supporting data can be found (e.g., public repository, on request, or not applicable).
7. Corrections & Retractions
- Corrections: For errors not invalidating results.
- Retractions: For unreliable findings, plagiarism (>25%), or unethical conduct. Retracted articles remain archived but watermarked.
8. Preprint Sharing
- Authors may submit manuscripts posted on non-profit preprint servers.
- Requirement: Disclose preprint details at submission and update the preprint record with the DOI upon publication.
